When Do You Need A Twin Rotary Sheeter?
In roll-to-sheet production, choosing the right Paper Sheeter Machine is essential for maintaining productivity, cutting accuracy, and sheet quality. While a Single Rotary Sheeter is widely used for many paper grades, certain materials require a more powerful and stable cutting solution. In these situations, a Twin Rotary Sheeter becomes the preferred choice.

A Single Rotary Sheeter performs exceptionally well when processing lightweight and medium-weight papers. It is commonly used as a Roll to Sheet Cutter for copy paper, offset paper, woodfree paper, kraft paper, and coated paper. For most applications between 60gsm and 250gsm, a Single Rotary Sheeter provides excellent cutting performance, reliable operation, and cost-effective production.
However, as paper weight and stiffness increase, the demands placed on the Paper Sheeting Machine become much greater. Materials such as duplex board, folding box board, white top liner, coated packaging board, and heavy kraft liner require higher cutting force and greater machine rigidity. Under these conditions, a standard Paper Sheet Cutter may experience vibration, edge cracking, or reduced cutting precision.

A Twin Rotary Sheeter addresses these challenges through a synchronized upper and lower rotary knife system. Unlike traditional cutting methods, the twin rotary design creates a continuous shearing action that distributes cutting force more evenly. This allows the machine to process heavier paper grades while maintaining clean edges and accurate sheet dimensions.
For many packaging manufacturers, the transition to a Twin Rotary Sheeter begins when paper grades exceed 250gsm. At this point, material stiffness increases significantly, making cutting quality more difficult to maintain with a conventional Paper Roll to Sheet Cutting Machine. Twin rotary technology helps reduce mechanical impact, improves cut quality, and enhances overall production stability.

Large-format paperboard production is another area where Twin Rotary Sheeters offer clear advantages. Wide paper reels combined with heavy grammage generate greater cutting loads. A reinforced machine structure and twin rotary knife system enable stable operation even during high-speed production.
In general, a Single Rotary Sheeter remains the ideal solution for papers ranging from 60gsm to 250gsm. When production involves heavier board grades, premium packaging materials, or applications where sheet quality is critical, a Twin Rotary Sheeter becomes the more effective choice.
Selecting the right sheeting technology is ultimately about matching the Paper Sheeter to the material. When paper becomes thicker, heavier, and more demanding, a Twin Rotary Sheeter delivers the cutting force, stability, and precision required for consistent roll-to-sheet production.
