Paper Industry Trends--China's Exports Of Paper And Paperboard Are Booming, And The Demand in Many Regions Is Increasing.
At the beginning of 2025, China's paper and paperboard exports maintained strong growth.
In January and February, China's total paper and paperboard exports were about 2.6455 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.32%. White paperboard, coated paper, household paper and other paper types have brought major growth to the export market. The growth trend has continued for more than a year.
Since the beginning of 2024, the export of white paper, household paper and coated paper has achieved a double-digit year-on-year growth in most months. The monthly export volume of white paper has increased from about 206,000 tons in 2023 to 252,000 tons in the first two months of 2025, with a wide range of export destinations. According to customs statistics, China's paper and paperboard export destinations are as many as 212. This number did not exceed 100 in the same period last year.
In January and February, the top five countries importing Chinese paper and paperboard were Vietnam, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, India and Thailand. Net exports expanded simultaneously. In January and February, China's total net export volume of paper and paperboard was about 922,200 tons, a year-on-year increase of 75.5%. The growth of net exports in the same period is due to the increase in the direct export value of paper and paperboard. On the other hand, it is mainly due to the decrease in China's direct imports of paper and paperboard in 2024, among which the most obvious decline in imports is corrugated paper.
